“It has gone from hush-hush to in vogue to pay as much attention to the parts that we don’t generally see as it is to the parts we see. Women are making it clear that they want vaginal rejuvenation options. Leading the charge, celebrities like Kim Kardashian are talking about vaginal rejuvenation—specifically, a nonsurgical radiofrequency technology called ThermiVa,” says cosmetic surgeon Dr. Marina Buckley. One of the reasons for the growing demand is the options now include nonsurgical, outpatient, no-downtime possibilities. Radiofrequency technology has helped to make that a reality, according to Dr. Buckley. Radiofrequency energy penetrates deep into the skin’s tissue, heating the treatment area and, ultimately, stimulating collagen production. “We can achieve tissue tightening, collagen production and more without making a single incision. In a session of about 20 to 25 minutes, Dr. Buckley delivers nonsurgical radiofrequency deeply into the vaginal tissues by applying a small applicator to the outside and inside the vagina. Patients usually receive three treatments, a month apart. But with each treatment, women often notice their skin is tighter.
Many also report the mild to moderate urinary leakage they experienced before the procedure is improved or gone.
