The condition known as inverted nipples occurs when the nipples retreat inside rather than jutting outward. This may arise later in life as a result of age, hormonal changes, or specific medical disorders, or it may happen spontaneously as a result of congenital factors. Inverted nipples are generally benign, but if they suddenly alter, they may impede with nursing or be a sign of underlying health problems.
