Galderma announced the FDA’s approval of Restylane Refyne and Restylane Defyne in December 2016. According to Dr. Buckley, Restylane Refyne and Defyne are distinguished as next-generation flexible hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, which feature XpresHAn Technology. “Fillers have gone high tech,” Dr. Buckley says. “XpresHAn Technology results in a smooth injectable gel filler that lasts and looks natural in areas of the face that are in constant motion. The advanced technology customizes the degree of hyaluronic acid crosslinking in each filler, which allows providers the flexibility to meet different patient’s cosmetic needs. Better yet, results last up to a year, according to studies.”
In the case of the lips, Dr. Buckley favors Restylane Silk, a smooth gel designed to restore the lips’ youthful shape and symmetry. Restylane Silk also addresses the vertical lipstick lines around the mouth, according to Dr. Buckley. Galderma, the maker of the Restylane family of fillers, recently awarded Dr. Buckley the Presidential Associate Award for leading the trend in aesthetic injectable treatments.
