Xeomin® is an injectable neuromodulator, or wrinkle relaxer, which temporarily disables nerve impulses to targeted muscles. Similar to Botox®, Xeomin® can help reduce wrinkles caused by frequent muscle contraction. Some common uses for Xeomin® include eyebrow lifting, reduction of frown lines, crow’s feet, nasal squint lines or bunny lines, horizontal lines across the forehead, perpendicular lines between the brows, lines around the neck, and even profuse underarm sweating and migraines. Xeomin® is increasingly being used as a anti-aging strategy. By reducing the intensity and frequency of wrinkles caused by frequent muscle contraction, Xeomin® can prevent the formation of deeper lines. For optimal results, touch-ups should be scheduled every 4 to 6 months, according to how your skin responds to the treatment. With Xeomin®, time intervals between treatments may widen over time because the muscles become more relaxed and require less maintenance.
What is the Difference Between BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin®?
We get asked this question often. Or sometimes patients are not even aware that there are other choices for wrinkle relaxers (neuromodulators) because they often refer to them as BOTOX® Cosmetic. But BOTOX® Cosmetic is the brand of neuromodulator, as Xeomin is another brand of neuromodulator. The main difference is that Xeomin is considered “naked” because it contains just one ingredient: Botulinum toxin A. Unlike BOTOX® Cosmetic, which is comprised of other compounds, Xeomin does not contain any additives, making it the preferred brand of neuromodulator for people who have had an allergic reaction to neuromodulators in the past.
