What is Hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a condition that affects approximately 3% of the population and is characterized by excessive sweating. The most common areas affected by hyperhidrosis include the hands, feet and underarms. Excessive sweating of the underarms may necessitate frequent changes of clothing and is often a source of significant anxiety and embarrassment.
Treating Embarrassing Underarm Sweat
The hyperhidrosis condition can be permanently improved by rendering an appropriate percentage of the offending sweat glands inoperative. While we offer both non-surgical and micro-invasive treatment options at MilfordMD, our favorite treatment is to use the Cynosure Precision TX laser combined with a curetting technique.
The Precision TX laser beam is introduced under the skin and targets the armpit sweat glands. The result is a reduction in the number of sweat glands that are functional. Only one treatment is needed and the procedure is done using only local anesthesia applied to the areas being treated.
Am I a Good Candidate?
The first step in determining whether you’re a good candidate for our hyperhidrosis treatments is scheduling your initial consultation. Since neurologic, endocrine, infectious, and other systemic diseases can sometimes cause hyperhidrosis, a thorough systematic evaluation is performed by our Board Certified physicians before discussing options for treatment.
