MilfordMD Cosmetic Dermatology Surgery & Laser Center has added nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa to its portfolio of cosmetic enhancement and rejuvenation options.
The treatment uses radiofrequency energy to non-invasively and gently heat and tighten external and internal vaginal tissue.
Milford, PA – July 19, 2016
“Vaginal rejuvenation is in demand among women of all ages. There are many reasons that vaginal tissue changes in undesirable ways. Childbirth is one. Age is another. Still other women have genetic predispositions to vaginal deformities,” says cosmetic physician and MilfordMD President, Dr. Marina Buckley.[twocol_one]

MilfordMD does a high volume of facial rejuvenation treatments and body makeover procedures. Patients have been long asking about their options in genital beautification treatments, according to Buckley. “There was a time when doctors and their patients rarely, if ever, discussed these concerns. But today, it’s different. Vaginal rejuvenation is in high demand. And not only are people talking about it, but industry also is responding with high-tech devices that allow cosmetic surgeons to spare patients of the need for what can be painful surgery,” she says.
The rising demand for cosmetic genital surgery is a nationwide phenomenon, according to a 2013 press release by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). According to ASAPS 2012 statistics, more than 3,500 vaginal rejuvenation procedures were performed in the United States, which is an increase of 64 percent from 2011.
ThermiVa is among today’s most popular and proven high-tech devices for vaginal rejuvenation—specifically, nonsurgical tissue tightening. “ThermiVa has a 97 percent ‘worth it’ rating, reflecting more than 90 ratings in the last two years on the popular cosmetic surgery website RealSelf. That’s an extremely high rating for any procedure,” Dr. Buckley says.
MilfordMD will begin offer ThermiVa treatments July 27. The treatment uses radiofrequency energy to non-invasively and gently heat and tighten external and internal vaginal tissue. In a recent study, ThermiVa’s maker Thermi reported a notable improvement in vaginal area laxity among 23 patients studied. Some of the patients treated also experienced improvements in atrophic vaginitis, stress urinary incontinence and better orgasms. Atrophic vaginitis is a thinning and inflammation of vaginal tissues because of diminished estrogen levels. Women who have it might experience itching, burning, painful intercourse and more.
“ThermiVa treatments boost collagen production in the vaginal area, which is an added benefit,” Dr. Marina Buckley says. “Just like collagen production helps to keep the facial skin looking young, it helps to keep the vaginal tissue more youthful.” ThermiVa treatments are done in the office (usually in about 15 to 30 minutes each), they’re comfortable and there’s no downtime. Most women need only three treatments, performed a month apart, for optimal effects, according to Dr. Buckley.
“The point of cosmetic surgery is to help make patients feel better about themselves. Genital beautification, with procedures like ThermiVa, can be a life-changer for some. Not only can it improve a woman’s self-esteem but also her sex life. We’re thrilled to offer the option to our patients,” Dr. Marina Buckley says.
