It affects all races and both sexes and the disease may develop at any age. Although vitiligo does not cause any physical discomfort or disability it is associated with devastating psychological and social consequences. Typically, vitiligo appears as milky white spots of varying sizes without any other surface change to the skin.
Hydrogen peroxide blocks the human tyrosinase enzyme, the enzyme responsible for the conversion of amino acids to melanin. The epidermis of vitiligo patients has reduced levels of catalase compared to normal healthy controls of matched photo-skin types.
How Omnilux WorksWhy choose Omnilux™ for Vitiligo?Lite Red Restore™ - a pseudocatalase compound, supplies a substitute for the reduced catalase in order to provide the epidermis with a catalyst for increased hydrogen peroxide degradation. Without the high levels of hydrogen peroxide the tyrosinase enzyme begins to work.
Omnilux™ provides a substrate for the tyrosinase enzyme and photostimulates melanocytes with 633nm light to generate melanin. Repigmentation is often seen at 8-12 weeks, a quicker response compared to alternative treatments. Clinical EfficacyIn a recent study conducted over an 8-month period, repigmentation was seen to develop between 8-12 weeks. The progression of the disease was halted in all patients. Time for complete repigmentation varied from 12-16 weeks. FAQsA new treatment for VitiligoRestoring the body’s natural balance with Omnilux revive. The answerOmnilux™ has worked closely with a leading European dermatologist to produce an effective alternative to conventional treatments. Omnilux™ and Lite Red Restore™ cream work together to produce a favourable environment for the cells that repigment the skin to do their job properly. What is Omnilux™?Omnilux™ is a light source that is specially tuned to activate the cells that restore the natural colour of your skin. Used in combination with Lite Red Restore™ cream, it produces a favourable environment for the repigmentation of skin. How safe is the treatment? The Omnilux™ light is completely safe and harmless to your skin. Omnilux™ doesn’t generate any heat like a laser. The light works naturally with your body and Lite Red Restore™ to return the pigment to your skin. What results can be expected from a series of treatments?Trials have shown that in combination, Omnilux™ and Lite Red Restore™ begin to repigment the skin after 8-12 weeks. This compares to conventional treatments that can take 6-8 months before there is any improvement. Are there any side effects from the treatments? No. There have been no reported adverse side effects. The light won’t damage your skin and because no heat is involved there’s no pain! What actually happens during the treatment?Lite Red Restore™ is applied twice daily to the affected area, then twice a week you will need to visit the clinic for a light treatment. This treatment lasts 20 minutes. After that you’re free to go home. The treatment course is usually 16-24 light treatments, dependent upon the size of the affected area.
